Planet
Combating the climate crisis is the defining challenge of our time and a top priority for Valley Northern, We are collaborating with suppliers and customers to help them transform and build a more sustainable and resilient world. This is the right move, not just for the good of the planet but also for the long-term sustainability of our clients. Valley Northern is committed to leading by example by making progress on our own net zero transformation.
We have committed to reach net zero climate impact by 2045, a significant step in our internal commitment to sustainability.

We also encourage the use of public transport, car sharing, walking or cycling where possible for staff to use to get to work, as this is helps to reduce the environmental impact and carbon footprint that is used by members of staff getting to work. We have a cycle to work scheme available to all employees.
Valley Northern has also chosen to use electric forklift trucks in our warehouse, as opposed to other fuels, such as diesel, to reduce the amount of air pollution caused using these trucks.
Social Impact
Our commitment to finding and implementing effective solutions to pressing societal issues is at the heart of our company’s purpose. We bring expertise to the work of addressing the UN’s Sustainable Development Goals, helping organisations develop and focus their social impact agendas and partnering with them to build their capabilities and maximize their impact and effectiveness.
We do this by focusing on these key areas:

Economic Development
Accelerating the end of extreme poverty and improve livelihoods. Valley Northern believes in paying a fair wage that is above minimum wage to improve our employee livelihoods, we have a profit share bonus system with all employees and donate vast amounts of money to charities that help out those in need. We also offer additional programmes for our employees to help with the cost of living, such as subsidised lunches and salary benchmarking.

Humanitarian Response
Strengthening preparedness, response, and longer-term recovery. Valley Northern pledges vast amounts of time and money to charities that support those in need. Valley Northern is to strengthening preparedness, response, and longer-term recovery efforts in our communities. We pledge significant time resources to support charities that make a real difference for those in need. Together, we believe in fostering resilience and hope for a brighter future. Global Health
Making health care more accessible to promote healthy lives for all. Valley Northern is passionate about making health care accessible to all. We also are strong believers in creating positive working conditions, we also offer support for physical and mental health with access to an employee assistance program. This platforms gives every employee 24/7 access to healthcare and advice when they need it most.

Climate Risk, Adaptation, and Resilience
We have ensured all of the plastic bag ranges that we offer are made from a minimum of 30% recycled content to help encourage recycling and to encourage a circular economy. Some of our bags are even made from 100% recycled material and we actively encourage our customers to switch to using more environmentally friendly alternatives in discussions with them. We also print the environmental properties on our generic designed bags as to inform the consumer how to properly dispose after use.

We work closely with our suppliers to promote fair labor practices, reduce environmental impact, and source sustainable materials wherever possible. By prioritizing transparency and accountability, we aim to create a supply chain that benefits both people and the planet while aligning with our commitment to social responsibility.

We strive to transform business and society for the better, in collaboration with our clients and suppliers and in our own operations, always guided by Valley Northern’s values and purpose.
We have a culture of accountability and transparency and employ top level consultants to keep us true to this culture and to ensure we are up to date with all the latest regulations and guidance.
Basic things like doing due diligence checks on the supply chain and conforming to the labour standards such as modern slavery etc is a matter of course. We have an audit programme in place for suppliers to ensure this is kept up to date.
